About us

Northallerton Striders is a walking group set up to provide regular walks of about five miles.  We target people who can walk but don't, either because they are worried about getting lost, they are not sure it is safe, or they just want somebody to walk with and talk to.

Our walks may start in town, but are more likely to start in one of the local villages or at a country pub or tea shop.  Wherever possible we aim to plan walks based on bus stops to accommodate those people who do not drive, but even more important is we plan walks to end at a tea shop or pub, where we can sit around and chat for half an hour before heading for home.

We hold walks every week in the countryside within reach of Northallerton, alternating Friday and Saturday starting around 10:00 (or to tie in with buses).  We also have occasional Sunday walks. Check the walk schedule to see what walks are available. Most of our walks are accessible by bus, but where we use cars we meet at the Forum in Northallerton and try to use car sharing, those who do not live in Northallerton are welcome to join at the walk start location.

We appreciate the social side is very important and we hold various social events throughout the year.

If you would like to become part of this group, as a walker, a leader or a supporter, please fill in the Contact Form and we will send you more information. You can also join after trying one of our walks.

There is a small annual charge to cover insurance & administration, currently £10 a year

Northallerton Striders organise walks in and around Northallerton, aimed at encouraging people to start walking and keep walking - whatever their age or physical condition.

If you want more information on the Striders, our organised walks or about this web site, please contact us using the contact form  or just come along and join our walks.
